TAPP “Rebranded”
TAPP is still TAPP, but the name now means “The Achievement of Peoples’ Potential.” The new name clearly reflects what we do, and what we will continue to do.
TAPP Wins United Way Community Builder of the Year Award! In a gala ceremony in Ottawa, Ontario, in May 2011, TAPP was given peer recognition for its work over the last 13 years in the “Turning Peoples’ Lives Around” category. This has energised our efforts as “The Little Engine that Could” to continue working in partnership with government, the community and businesses to help people help themselves to realise their potential.

Developing Program Directions:
Recovering from High Risk Life Experiences
Throughout its 13 year history TAPP has helped persons dealing with substance abuse, homelessness, domestic violence and other forms of abuse, and severe cultural dislocation and experiences to move forward with their lives.
The addition of our newest staff member, Personal/Career Development Counsellor Gloria P. Collins, C.D.C., gives us the opportunity to implement specific programs to help persons who have dealt with these issues to move forward with their lives. Gloria has recently come to Ottawa after 12 years experience as a substance abuse counsellor and family counsellor in Los Angeles, USA, assisting individuals and families to address important life issues. She has chosen to work with TAPP in group and individual settings to help people turn their lives around.
Developing Program Directions:
Enhanced Employment Counselling and
Career Growth through RPL
TAPP has worked for the last 13 years helping people develop their skills and self-esteem to realise their potential. We are now able to offer people special assistance in these areas by using the RPL/PLAR approach (Recognising Prior Learning/Prior Learning and Recognition). This method of career development and personal healing helps a person examine their life experiences to gain new understanding of their skills and personal strengths and accomplishments. This gives them the ability to show themselves and potential employees their ability to gain academic and employment success. The RPL approach will now be part of all of our programs.
We will refurbish them and see they get
to those who need them.
